Description

I've been doing a lot of vector work thanks to the various graphic design jobs I keep getting, but haven't really created anything I'd consider "artistic." So I wanted to try my hand at an original vector piece that's more like the raster paintings I tend to do.

And here it is, Miss Vecty.

I have to say, I found this very time consuming and, at times, frustrating. There's such a difference in work time. I did the colour comp for this piece in 30 minutes, and then the actual vector took me ~15 hours. Stupid selecting objects when I didn't mean to, and drawing paths.

All that said, I'm good with the final result. For something that didn't use any photo reference, and a type of illustrating I really haven't attempted for 5 years, it's not bad.

What do you guys think? Should I do more vector art?

been working with Illustrator and vectors lately myself and I'm sure this one really got frustrating. but the end result is beautiful. personally the time it takes to do a vector is just not worth it to me. but who knows, the more you work with it the faster it might get. It won't hurt to try a few pieces...or will it?
lol great job and good luck
